Chilly Nights and Spooky Sites...Pumpkin Spice Latte!

So since earlier this week I was rudely denied a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, I thought it was time to make one for myself.  This weekend is going to be filled with worksheets, projects, reading and a lot of other stuff.  I needed a little something to put some pep in my step if ya know what I mean :).

This morning me and my amazing penguin pajamas were in the mood for fall pumpkin stuff.  So as usual, we had two big pumpkin spice waffles. Have you seen those?? They're the seasonal Eggo ones.  It's perfection.  As long as you have about of gallon of syrup on top.  Well, enough to cover each little square!

On top of that, I made a nice pumpkin spice latte. Don't you want to know how to make it too??

Ingredients

2 cups of milk
2 tbsp canned pumpkin
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Coffee
Whipped Cream (optional)

Directions

Bring milk, pumpkin, and sugar to medium heat and stir often until steamy.  Remove from heat and add vanilla and pumpkin pie spice.  Whisk until thin layer of bubbles form.  Pour into cup and add as much coffee as your little stomach can handle! Add the whipped cream, generously. :) Bon Appetit!

To top off your morning, listen to this song "Heart Skips a Beat" by Olly Murs.  It is a really fun song to start off your day right.  I incuded this acoustic version, because it emphasises the point that these guys are good singers, even without a recording studio.  Plus, it has Niall from One Direction in it :).  That's the real reason...

I hope you enjoy this recipe!  Sip slowly!

Peanut Butter Cupcakes

Hey everyone!  It's me again!  This past weekend I wanted to make some cupcakes really bad.  I've been filling up on everything pumpkin over the past few weeks, so I thought it was for the best to try something different.  I got my inspiration for this from a blog called My Happy Place.  I love all of her recipes!  Definitely check her out, she's a great person, photographer, and baker!  I really look up to her and her blog.

I'll leave the recipe I used at the bottom of the page, so try it out!

First of all, let me introduce you to today's baking assistant, his name is Justin.  He likes food and duck faces :)  He was helping me make this since my mother was gone and I needed "supervision" with the oven.  Even though he's like 11.

I had just gotten home from a 5k run earlier that morning, so it was time to completely ruin it.  That's why my face is painted and stuff.

Since it's almost Christmas time, (I know, it's a stretch) I thought it was about time to break out the Santa apron - ohhh yesss!

So after lots of stirring, baking, cooling, and icing, we got some pretty amazing cupcakes!

We had a whole lot of fun making (and eating) these!  They are to die for!  The icing is just plain fabulous!  It tastes so professional and creamy.  We had milk out of wine glasses too!  It was a blast :).  Even Justin, who doesn't like cheese or peanut butter, loved it! See?

While we were waiting for things to bake, we listened to a whole lot of Justin Bieber.  Beliebers unite!  This new music video for Beauty and A Beat is honestly phenomenal.  I'm not exactly a fan of Nicki Minaj, but she has a nice voice.   Justin himself filmed it!  There's minimal cuts and such.  It's very creative and well done!  I even took a picture of our computer screen, since it played a large role in the making of these cupcakes.

Here's a link to the new music video!  I don't recommend it for younger audiences, but do what you want. :)

Here's the recipe I used for these cupcakes.  Oh, and you can also use it on brownies, cookies, cakes, whatever you like.  I think it would go best on something chocolate, though.

Frosting

1 c.  whipped cream cheese
1 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. milk
2 c. powdered sugar
sprinkle of salt (to taste)
*you can also add chopped peanuts as a garnish on top

Stir all of the ingredients together in large mixing bowl until smooth.

Cupcakes

Box of Devil's Food cupcakes, followed the directions.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and try it out!  More fall-themed recipes coming soon!

Much Love,

Where The Light Is.

It's been a really long time since I've posted a 'serious', inspirational type post.  I thought it was about time.  I can only do these kinds of things when I'm in the mood.  I guess you could say I have 'serious spells'.

Recently I've been loving this song by Anthem Lights called 'Where The Light Is',  hence the title.  I was really intrigued by the whole idea of this song.

It'll be helpful if I insert the music here, so you know what the heck I'm even talking about.  Yeah, that would be a good idea...

Oh, Caleb's face...priceless.  So this song has really given me a vivid visual of God's power.  There's a line in this song that says, "Darkness doesn't stand a chance."  It got me thinking about the true capacity of God and His people.

With just one spark of light, the fire brightens more than just itself.  Everything around it is illuminated.  Now, imagine that every one of us Christians is a lightbulb.  It doesn't matter how small of a flame or how weak our faith may seem, it is still bright.

As usual, the darkness represents the evils, or the devil.  Now, when a light is turned on, where did that darkness go?  Darkness doesn't stand a chance where the light is.  When the dark and light are combined, which one overpowers?  The light.  The light will always occupy dark crevices.  Evil can not hide from the rays of blinding light.

Now lets think about one last thing.  What does a light need to burn?  Once it is ignited, how will it survive?  Usually, fire needs oxygen, space, and fuel to keep itself going for a period of time.

How does this relate to you and your light?

When I say oxygen, space and fuel is needed to keep it burning, I'm not only refering to fires.  I'm also talking about people like yourself.  Think about it...

When you are stressed out and are having a bad day, what do people tell you?  Take a deep breath.  That oxygen calms you down and clears your mind.

Sometimes there are days that I just need some space.  It would be better if I was just alone in my bed under the covers.  You've got to disconnect from the real world sometimes and think about the less urgent things.  You must free your mind from all the thoughts that are out to constrict your abilities.  Rest makes sure your light doesn't go out.

Finally, we need fuel.  Where do you turn to when you need guidance (besides Pinterest...)?  I think that the Bible is my fuel.  It provides me with that extra jolt of energy.  It keeps my flame burning happily.

So now do you believe that we are like lights?  I think it's cute how Anthem Lights' fans are called light bulbs.  I love that term for Christians.  It's like that song about 'this little light of mine'!!!!!  Ahhhhh connection!

So take a deep breath, escape from the world, and read your Bible.  Good things come to those who wait.  Patience.

I'll have more posts for my fall series coming soon!  Don't forget to follow me, it really helps!

Much Love,

Chilly Nights and Spooky Sites... The Fair

Hey everyone!  I'm proud to announce that I'm finally starting a new fall series called 'Chilly Nights and Spooky Sites.'  It took my mom and me like two days to finally come up with something that was appropriate.  We went through lots of play on words and rhymes for this!  Since I wanted to continue this series throughout the fall season, I couldn't just directly relate it to Halloween.  It was a difficult task...

So for today, as I've mentioned, I have a fair post for you!!!  My family and my cousin's family went to the fair last Thursday.  We got there after school and stayed for almost six hours!  Most of that time was spend walking around, eating, watching shows and looking at exhibits.  In fact, I only rode like seven rides the whole time.

My younger cousin, Emily, is also a blogger.  She did a post on the fair trip as well.  I suggest you go check her out here and follow her blog!  The link will just open up another tab. :)

Well I won't ramble on for long.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from that day.

As you can tell, we take lots of pictures of each other :).  But that's cool, it's what teenagers do.  If you were wondering, my cousin, Emily, is in the pink shirt with the ice cream.  I am in the grey shirt, and Alex (Emily's brother) is the little boy in all the pictures.  My brother didn't want his picture taken, because he's too 'cool' for that sort of thing. Yahhhhh.

Actually I do have one picture of my brother of him with a little stuffed animal he won from one of those "Guess your weight/age/month" things.  Let me see if I can dig it out for you....

Got it!  Isn't it just adorable?  I have no clue where that little Clifford is now, though.  Probably on the  floor in his room, waiting patiently to be played with.  That poor dog.

What else did we do....?  OH!  So there was this hypnotist there that was preforming at 6:30.  I'm really into the whole psychological stuff right now, so I really wanted to go.  I was pretty skeptical about the performance, wondering how good it would actually be.  Let me tell you, it was amazing!  If you ever get the chance to go see a show, I highly recommend it.  It was hysterical and quite interesting!  He made them do all kinds of stuff like play a trumpet and pretend they were rappers.  Plus, with the snap of his fingers, he could make them fall asleep.  Amazing...

The rides were lots of fun, as well. My cousin and I were riding on the Hanglider singing One Direction.  It was priceless :)

The only thing was, I forgot to ride the swings!!!!  By the time we had to leave, there was at least a fifteen minute wait for everything.  It was sooooo crowded.

I loved it though.  Always have, always will.  If the fair ever comes to you, go and ride the swings for me, please!  It would mean the world to me :)

Before I leave you, I'll link below a song that I've been loving lately.  It's called 'Begin Again' by Taylor Swift.  Since her new album is out really soon, (Oct. 22) she's been busy releasing some singles in the past few weeks.  She has four out so far.  I'm excited.  REALLY excited.

I hope you have a good week!

Much Love,

September Rewind.

Happy Friday!!! I know this is going up a little later than expected, but I've been super busy with school and stuff.  I hope you are mercifully enough to forgive me!

Well, it's that time of the month again.  September is over and now it's officially October!!!!!! Happy October!  I have to say that September is my least favorite month of the year.  I mean for one thing, school is back.  That means homework, projects, tests, and more tests.  In fact, I should be studying for one right now.  I guess you can tell how my priorities line up now a days. :) #yolo

Even though September isn't my favorite month, there was still plenty to love about it. Trust me.

Well, for one thing, the new One Direction song came out this month (totally fangirling!). I linked it in my last video, but if by some chance you failed to watch it, I'll link it below.

Alright so let's get into it!

1. Song
Yeah, I have been loving 'Live While We're Young', but since that didn't come out until the very end of the month, I wanted to include one that has been on since the beginning of the month.  That would have to be 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' by T. Swizzle :)  One thing I love about this video is that it was filmed in one take.  The little nerdy side of me jumps for joy when I hear that.  Also, I love how this song is just so in your face.  Yeah we are never ever getting back together, like ever!

2.  Quote
One thing about me you might not know is that I'm obsessed with quotes.  I could spend hours on Pinterest 'repin'ing pins with quotes.  It's an obsession.  When I was out at Office Max a little while ago I saw this notebook with this quote on it, and absolutely had to get it.  I'm pretty sure it was made for me.  Plus, guess who said it??? Dr. Seuss!!!!  I actually changed it to my description on Twitter.

3.  App
I'm not usually the app kind of girl.  I like would prefer listening to music over playing a game.  However, there has been this one game that recently I've been loving.  It's called Unblock Me (free).  I'm too cheap to buy the full version :).  Basically, it's like a puzzle made of blocks and you have to move around the blocks to get the red one through the whole.  Okay, I'm not making sense.  Let's just insert a picture, shall we?

So in order to fully comprehend the extent of my love for this game, I must admit to something.  I have completed over 400 levels of this game.  Most of the levels take some time, too.  I still have at least 400 more to go until I must buy the full version (or just replay the first 800).

4. Social Network Thingy
So in the past month, I hopped on the whole Twitter bandwagon, finally.  I know I'm late, but better late then never.  I love it so much more than Facebook!  Its just so much more aesthetically pleasing to me.  I'm pretty sure you should sign a waiver before signing on that says, "We are not responsible for any lost time. - Twitter"  That would also be helpful for Pinterest.  Ahh, I could spend hours on there...  It's always fun to follow your favorite artists and bands to keep up with them, along with those random people who post funny quotes.  I dig those :)

The only thing that really bugs me about Twitter (well, the people on it) is the whole 'follow for a follow' thing.  That bugs me soooo much.  I must admit I post on there a whole lot.  I mean, there are definitely people out there worse than me, but by my standards, I put out a lot.  If you out there have a Twitter, go follow me here!

5.  TV Show
After like three months of it being gone, Bones is back.  YESSSSSSSS!  I missed it so much over the summer, and I am so glad it's back!  If you don't know what Bones is, it's a show that follows a forensic anthropologist named Temperence Brennan (aka Bones), and her friends and coworkers while they work on different murder cases.  The thing that's so different about it is that the show focuses more on the science of solving murders rather than the investigative side.  So pretty much, more bones.  It's really addicting and fun to watch.  Plus, Bones and Booth (FBI detective) just had their baby, and she's adorable.  I'll show you this past season's (7th) cover art thingy.

6.  Drink
Ohh goodness there is just so much good food on this earth.  How can I ever decide my favorite?  Well I've lately been into a lot of fall things like pumpkin drinks and desserts.  In fact I made my first pumpkin pie of the season only a few days ago.  This is going to sound crazy, but I'm once again addicted to hot chocolate.  Specifically, salted caramel hot chocolate.  I may make a little post about it when it becomes closer to winter.  It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

Well this has been a lot shorter than I was afraid it might be.  Like I said before, I'm so excited to blog about the upcoming months and spend some time with the chilly months.

I'll be putting up a fair post FAIRly soon :).  tehehehe I crack myself up.  We had so much fun last night!  I miss it already!

I hope you're having a wonderful day, and I'll talk you guys soon!

Much Love,
