So, I think I may have forgotten to mention something. I have a new blog. I know, it's getting quite confusing isn't it? I apologize. However, this move is permanent. Okay, I shouldn't say that. I do think it'll stay this way for a while, though.
I'm going to leave my new links below so we can catch up! I hope you are having a Happy New Year and 2013 treats you right!
I absolutely adore everything about fall, except for the sudden spike in sickness. I'm actually sick right now. For like the second time in the past few months! On the bright side, I can devote some time to blogging! I especially love all the fall fashion. It's lovely... :)
I thought that I would just go over a few of my favorite trends/pieces for the chilly weather. In no specific order, let's get started!
1. Beanies!
My number one must have for the cold weather is a warm hat. Beanies just always seem to do the trick! With all of the different styles and colors to choose from, they never seem to get old. I love the selection at Forever 21 right now. Here's a few pics from the site...
A fun print like the stripes or a bright color will always make an outfit really pop. I actually own the pink purl knit one. It's so cozy and warm to wear on a day you want to be outside and in the cold weather. I love how affordable these pieces are and how much they add to an outfit.
2. The Ugly Christmas Sweater (sort of...)
Everyone loves their big knit sweaters for the holidays!! I love making a Christmas sweater look cute by wearing it with different accessories and hairstyles. Pinterest really has its ways of making everything look cute, so I'll leave a picture below for you to swoon over :).
Isn't it gorgeous? It looks soo comfy and warm. Let's just snuggle. Now.
3. UGG Boots
Okay, first I have to be honest with you. I don't own UGGs. I own fuggs (fake UGGs). I know, I'm just so lame. But honestly, I'd rather not spend like 100 dollars on a pair of shoes that I'm bound to ruin at some point in the near future. However, I do have a pair of Bearpaws that look exactly like UGGs. I have to warn you first that if you get a pair of these, they will never come off of your feet. I keep telling people they feel like pillows. I don't care if they're not the cutest boots, they are furry and heavenly. I'm in love. I've been wearing my pair of navy ones for the past week nonstop. Would you like a peek?
I actually got these boots on sale at ROSS for like 27 dollars or something crazy like that. They are about 60 dollars retail, so I was happy to find these.
4. Stripes
Okay guys, this has to be my absolute favorite trend for the fall time. I have this really cute striped sweater I like to wear for the colder days that is probably my favorite shirt. I just think you really can't go wrong with stripes. My favorite way to style them is with a chunky scarf and a cute black skirt with maroon leggings. It's absolutely adorable and so stylish. It reminds me of Taylor Swift for some reason. I gotta get my Tay Tay on!!! :)
Isn't it precious? If I could I would wear this every day. I'm in love!
Well, it looks like that's about all I have for today. Did I miss any? What are your thoughts about this season's styles? I want to know! Make sure to follow my blog so we can keep in touch!
Before I leave, I'll link below my current favorite song. And guess what it's from? Take Me Home!!!! That's right, 1D's new album is officially out! Listen away, and don't be afraid to abuse the repeat button. If it makes you feel better, I had to too!
Hey guys! Guess what time it is?! Favorites!!!! Let's party together :). Another wonderful month we've made it though! One more month closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas! By this time next month I'll be singing along to Jingle Bell Rock on the radio!
I'm sitting here with my big cup o' peach tea all comfy cozy! It's a nice fall night down here in the south. So, before we get into all the fun things I've been loving this month, I have an important announcement. Do you remember that other blog I had? The one that had all of the recipes and tutorials and stuff? Well, it's been at the spa getting a makeover and it'll be back soon! I can't wait for you to see everything I've been working on!
Alright, so let's just get into it!
1. Drink
So, if you haven't noticed, I like tea a lot. Especially peach tea. We've been getting this fruit tea sampler from Celestial. There is cherry, raspberry, peach, and probably something else. It's amazing. It smells like heaven peed in a cup. Just kidding. That's gross. More like peaches and goodness. Its perfection.
2. Song
Well this has become a very hard decision. Incredibly difficult. After lots and lots and lots of thought I think I've narrowed it down. I know this song is pretty old. but it is perfect. Future husband - we are playing this at our wedding! This song is called Marry You by Bruno Mars. I love his voice and all of his songs! This one is no exception.
3. YouTuber
This next favorite of mine is so incredibly talented! His name is Arthur Garros. He does covers of songs on his channel. I love his voice and music taste. I'm going to leave his version of The A Team by Ed Sheeran below. Remember the guy I talked about from my last post? Yes, that guy! I'll also link his channel if you want to subscribe or check out his other stuff.
Story Time!!! So I was on my Twitter one day the other week and stuff when I followed Arthur. I had just found his channel and was really enjoying his music. When he tweeted about his new cover, I decided to tweet him saying how much I liked it. Then, this miracle happened. He retweeted AND tweeted me. I was literally running around my room like a maniac. It was priceless. I even took a pic (notice the 1D background...) Perfection. Oh, Mom, that's the good news I never got to tell you.
4. Movie
Usually, I don't watch enough movies to even post about one. However, this month I did watch some. Aside from all of the Halloweentowns, I watched a movie called She's the Man. It's got Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum in it. We actually watched this movie in Language Arts class, since it is based off a Shakespeare book. We are reading Twelfth Night in class and my teacher thought it would be a good idea to watch it. Aside from Channing being shirtless in almost every scene, it was hilarious. I couldn't contain myself. I'll leave the trailer below. I don't think it was a great choice to show in an 8th grade classroom, but I've seen worse... keep that in mind.
5. Food
I think I have mentioned this in a recent post, but I'll tell you again. I have been completely obsessed with these seasonal pumpkin spice waffles from Eggo. It tastes sooo good. If you put some syrup on it, you will fall in love. I'm afraid that they will go away after this month! Last time we went shopping, we stocked up on them :). I don't know what I'll do when they're gone.
Well, it looks like I've gone over everything! Let me know what some of your favorite stuff from this month was! I'd love to know!
It's time. It's been promised, and I like to keep my promises.
I thought that before we begin reviewing the songs, we should pay attention to her style. Taylor is known for her red lips, winged eyeliner and seemingly flawless skin. I would categorize her style as chic and modest. Her good reputation still reigns over her fellow singer/songwriters. She has become a style icon and role model for many young girls, like me. Plus, she writes some pretty darn good songs!
She has definitely grown up since some of her first songs. Her style and sound have matured and improved. She has become an individual. Also, did you notice her hair?! Instead of sticking with her famous curls, she has started to straighten her hair and then curl it again. I think it really fits her new style, but I'm sad to see her change it up!
I thought that I would just link the track-list below and talk about some of my personal favorites from the album (even though every one of them is gorgeous). Click on a few to try them out. It won't take you away from the blog, just open a new window.
I tried not to link the pitched version of the songs, but I apologize if I accidentally did. It's hard to find the real version now a days with YouTube becoming so strict! So I wanted to just talk about a few of my favorite songs from her album.
Okay, so my absolute favorite one of hers off this album would have to be "I Knew You Were Trouble". It's a very upbeat song, different than her usual style. This one and "22" are considered more pop than country. I love them both, because of how catchy they are. They just stick in your brain very easily.
Another one I've loved listening to is "Red". It's the title track of this album and you may have also heard it in a recent Target commercial. I think it has the most even mix of country and pop. It's very much like what we think of as Taylor. The lyrics are so meaningful and real.
The last one I'll talk about is "Everything Has Changed". First and foremost, it's got Ed Sheeran. Ed freaking Sheeran. I'm in love :) If you don't know who he is, he is a British singer/songwriter who, like Taylor, is considered one of the best. He actually wrote Little Things by One Direction. I'll leave that down below. He is amazing! This song is so simple and catchy. Like all of Ed's songs, it has a solemn feel to it, but still lovable. I definitely recommend it.
The tracks above are from the deluxe edition (available at Target). Check it out and support Taylor if you like the songs. The album just made my Christmas wish list!
I hope you all have an amazing fall break! I love you all!
So since earlier this week I was rudely denied a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, I thought it was time to make one for myself. This weekend is going to be filled with worksheets, projects, reading and a lot of other stuff. I needed a little something to put some pep in my step if ya know what I mean :).
This morning me and my amazing penguin pajamas were in the mood for fall pumpkin stuff. So as usual, we had two big pumpkin spice waffles. Have you seen those?? They're the seasonal Eggo ones. It's perfection. As long as you have about of gallon of syrup on top. Well, enough to cover each little square!
On top of that, I made a nice pumpkin spice latte. Don't you want to know how to make it too??
Ingredients
2 cups of milk
2 tbsp canned pumpkin
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Coffee
Whipped Cream (optional)
Directions
Bring milk, pumpkin, and sugar to medium heat and stir often until steamy. Remove from heat and add vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Whisk until thin layer of bubbles form. Pour into cup and add as much coffee as your little stomach can handle! Add the whipped cream, generously. :) Bon Appetit!
To top off your morning, listen to this song "Heart Skips a Beat" by Olly Murs. It is a really fun song to start off your day right. I incuded this acoustic version, because it emphasises the point that these guys are good singers, even without a recording studio. Plus, it has Niall from One Direction in it :). That's the real reason...
Hey everyone! It's me again! This past weekend I wanted to make some cupcakes really bad. I've been filling up on everything pumpkin over the past few weeks, so I thought it was for the best to try something different. I got my inspiration for this from a blog called My Happy Place. I love all of her recipes! Definitely check her out, she's a great person, photographer, and baker! I really look up to her and her blog.
I'll leave the recipe I used at the bottom of the page, so try it out!
First of all, let me introduce you to today's baking assistant, his name is Justin. He likes food and duck faces :) He was helping me make this since my mother was gone and I needed "supervision" with the oven. Even though he's like 11.
I had just gotten home from a 5k run earlier that morning, so it was time to completely ruin it. That's why my face is painted and stuff.
Since it's almost Christmas time, (I know, it's a stretch) I thought it was about time to break out the Santa apron - ohhh yesss!
So after lots of stirring, baking, cooling, and icing, we got some pretty amazing cupcakes!
We had a whole lot of fun making (and eating) these! They are to die for! The icing is just plain fabulous! It tastes so professional and creamy. We had milk out of wine glasses too! It was a blast :). Even Justin, who doesn't like cheese or peanut butter, loved it! See?
While we were waiting for things to bake, we listened to a whole lot of Justin Bieber. Beliebers unite! This new music video for Beauty and A Beat is honestly phenomenal. I'm not exactly a fan of Nicki Minaj, but she has a nice voice. Justin himself filmed it! There's minimal cuts and such. It's very creative and well done! I even took a picture of our computer screen, since it played a large role in the making of these cupcakes.
Here's a link to the new music video! I don't recommend it for younger audiences, but do what you want. :)
Here's the recipe I used for these cupcakes. Oh, and you can also use it on brownies, cookies, cakes, whatever you like. I think it would go best on something chocolate, though.
Frosting
1 c. whipped cream cheese
1 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. milk
2 c. powdered sugar
sprinkle of salt (to taste)
*you can also add chopped peanuts as a garnish on top
Stir all of the ingredients together in large mixing bowl until smooth.
Cupcakes
Box of Devil's Food cupcakes, followed the directions.
I hope you enjoyed today's post and try it out! More fall-themed recipes coming soon!
It's been a really long time since I've posted a 'serious', inspirational type post. I thought it was about time. I can only do these kinds of things when I'm in the mood. I guess you could say I have 'serious spells'.
Recently I've been loving this song by Anthem Lights called 'Where The Light Is', hence the title. I was really intrigued by the whole idea of this song.
It'll be helpful if I insert the music here, so you know what the heck I'm even talking about. Yeah, that would be a good idea...
Oh, Caleb's face...priceless. So this song has really given me a vivid visual of God's power. There's a line in this song that says, "Darkness doesn't stand a chance." It got me thinking about the true capacity of God and His people.
With just one spark of light, the fire brightens more than just itself. Everything around it is illuminated. Now, imagine that every one of us Christians is a lightbulb. It doesn't matter how small of a flame or how weak our faith may seem, it is still bright.
As usual, the darkness represents the evils, or the devil. Now, when a light is turned on, where did that darkness go? Darkness doesn't stand a chance where the light is. When the dark and light are combined, which one overpowers? The light. The light will always occupy dark crevices. Evil can not hide from the rays of blinding light.
Now lets think about one last thing. What does a light need to burn? Once it is ignited, how will it survive? Usually, fire needs oxygen, space, and fuel to keep itself going for a period of time.
How does this relate to you and your light?
When I say oxygen, space and fuel is needed to keep it burning, I'm not only refering to fires. I'm also talking about people like yourself. Think about it...
When you are stressed out and are having a bad day, what do people tell you? Take a deep breath. That oxygen calms you down and clears your mind.
Sometimes there are days that I just need some space. It would be better if I was just alone in my bed under the covers. You've got to disconnect from the real world sometimes and think about the less urgent things. You must free your mind from all the thoughts that are out to constrict your abilities. Rest makes sure your light doesn't go out.
Finally, we need fuel. Where do you turn to when you need guidance (besides Pinterest...)? I think that the Bible is my fuel. It provides me with that extra jolt of energy. It keeps my flame burning happily.
So now do you believe that we are like lights? I think it's cute how Anthem Lights' fans are called light bulbs. I love that term for Christians. It's like that song about 'this little light of mine'!!!!! Ahhhhh connection!
So take a deep breath, escape from the world, and read your Bible. Good things come to those who wait. Patience.
I'll have more posts for my fall series coming soon! Don't forget to follow me, it really helps!
